Sculpture Conservation in the Gallery Drop-In

Robert Shure and Lisa Benson from Skylight Studios will be in the exhibit gallery doing conservation work on Walker Hancock’s bust of Abraham Lincoln.  Visitors are welcome to drop in on public days to observe the process. Hancock was commissioned to create a statue of Abraham Lincoln in 1978 for the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. and a plaster bust, which was created as part of that project, will undergo conservation treatment in the gallery. 

Vehicle reservations are recommended to ensure a space will be available for you. The timed reservations are in 1-hour intervals. If more time is needed, you may reserve multiple time slots. Visitors arriving on foot or being dropped off do not need to make a parking reservation. 

Please check in with Visitor Services at the James Center upon arrival.

INSTRUCTIONS TO RESERVE: 

1. Choose your Date:

   • Click above on the blue CLICK HERE FOR ADDITIONAL DATES.

   • Choose a date in black. If the calendar is grayed out, those dates are not available. 

2. Choose your Time: 

   • Click above on the blue CLICK HERE FOR ADDITIONAL TIMES.
   • Scroll to the time preferred time and select it. 

3. Enter number of vehicles in QUANTITY.

4. Click blue box ADD TO CART .

5. You will arrive at a new page.

6. Fill out all areas with a red *asterisk.

6. Click blue box CHECK OUT .

If you need to change your date or time you need to go back to the beginning of choosing your date and re-enter your selections. 

You will receive an acknowledgement email with your e-ticket reservation attached. Please bring it with you for faster check-in or we can look you up. After parking, check-in at the Janet & William Ellery James Center and enjoy your visit.
